Pétionville

After the January 12th earthquake, the Jenkins/Penn Haitian Relief Foundation immediately rushed to help the Haitian people. Positioned at the top of the local country club in Pétionville, the JP/HRO Organization supported over 80,000 people and set up local clinics to tend to those traumatized by the earthquake. LifeGivingForce installed an LGF RAPID RESPONSE 10,000UF system to directly support the JP/HRO hospital that was pulling water from a known E. coli and fecal infested water source. Since its instalment in February, the LGF RAPID RESPONSE 10,000UF system has provided clean water for over 100,000 people visiting the IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) camp hospital. Special thanks to Sean, Bruce and Allison for their amazing work in Pétionville.

LGF and Jenkins/Penn Haitian Relief Organization

Imagine waking up on a once beautiful golf course in the hills of Port-au-Prince Haiti and instead of smelling fresh cut grass, you smell death. The Pétionville Country Club in Port-au-Prince, Haiti became home to over 80,000 people displaced by the January 12th earthquake. Bruce, from the Jenkins/Penn Haitian Relief Organization (JP/HRO), felt a strong urge to serve the people in this IDP camp and arrived in Haiti just days after the earthquake shook the foundations of the entire Haitian society. Working around the clock, his team administered life-saving medical aid to the people living on the golf course. The team at the clinic worked tirelessly to serve between 600-800 people a day. Unfortunately, the only source of water they could draw on was contaminated with E. coli which prohibited the doctors from working in a sterile environment and administering much needed aid to those in need of urgent medical attention.

Hearing of the situation at Pétionville, LGF immediately engaged the JP/HRO Operations Team and deployed a portable suitcase-sized, solar-powered water purification unit to them. The doctors and staff at the JP/HRO hospital finally had access to clean water to perform operations in a sterile environment and were now able to drink safe water from a trusted source. Although it is difficult to quantify exact numbers, LGF believes the Pétionville IDP camp received enough purified water to serve over 100,000 people. Thanks Bruce for your amazing work. LGF is honored to have helped those living in the JP/HRO IDP camp in Pétionville.
